Principal’s News
As the year draws to a close, I would like to thank some essential people at Pasadena Intermediate.
Board of Trustees (BOT)
The Board of Trustees has done a significant job leading our strategic plan and always putting Pasadena students first. The governance decisions that our BOT make are evident in all aspects of school life. Thank you for the time you have given our school.
Staff
Under very tough conditions this year, our staff have gone beyond the normal realms of teaching, spending vast amounts of their own time planning and preparing lessons both face to face and online. Your enthusiasm for teaching is remarkable. Thank you for your commitment and dedication.
Students
We have such outstanding students who are articulate, creative and talented. I look forward to seeing the wonderful things that Year 8’s achieve in the future and seeing the Year 7’s step up to be the leaders of the school in 2022.
Parent Helpers
We appreciate the help of parents on trips, school activities, cultural happenings, sports events and the fantastic array of activities we have at Pasadena. These special events wouldn’t be able to take place without you.
All the above groups make Pasadena a unique and wonderful place to be. Have a wonderful Christmas and Happy New Year.
Staffing news
At the end of this academic year, we farewell a few staff members. Heather Ruru, the Rumaki teacher of Room 9. We wish you well in your new position in the public sector and appreciate your hard work over the past two years.
Two of our part-time teachers Tori Grey and Amelia Farras, are also leaving; thank you for your efforts with our students.
Replacing Heather in Room 9 will be Ataahua Nathan, a recent graduate from the University of Auckland's Bachelor of Education: Huarahi Māori Specialisation. Ataahua also completed her teaching placement in our Rumaki earlier in the year, so knows our students and teachers very well.
We also welcome Nicola Coventry to our staff, who will be taking over as the Room 12 teacher. Christine Abercrombie will be leaving the classroom to take up her Assistant Principal role within the school in a full time capacity.
Prizegiving
It was fantastic to celebrate Prizegiving with our Year 7s and 8s this year, thank you for tuning in virtually to support them. If you missed the event, you can watch a recording of the live stream here.
