Principals News

As the year draws to a close, I would like to thank some key people associated with Pasadena Intermediate. They have been fundamental in the functioning of our school in 2020.

Board of Trustees

The Board of Trustees have done a fantastic job leading our strategic plan and always putting students first at Pasadena. The decisions that you make are always the best for our students.
Thank you for your amazing help and leadership and the time that you give our school.

Community at Pasadena (C@P)

C@P are an amazing group of parents who spend time organising fundraising events for Pasadena and providing support when we need it. I know the students appreciate your input. Thank you for your time and energy. Some of you have had a long association with the school that is now coming to an end.

Staff

The staff at Pasadena go beyond the normal realms of teaching often spending their own spare time attending school events and preparing for classes. Your enthusiasm for teaching is remarkable. Thank you for your commitment and dedication.

Students

We have such wonderful students who are articulate, creative and talented. I look forward to seeing the wonderful things that Year 8’s go onto achieving in the future and seeing the Year 7’s step up to be the leaders of the school in 2021.

Parent Helpers

We really appreciate the help of parents on trips, school activities, cultural events, camp, sports events and the amazing array of activities we have at Pasadena. These special events wouldn’t be able to take place without you. All the above groups make Pasadena a unique and wonderful place to be.
Have a wonderful Christmas and Happy New Year.

Staffing News

This year we farewell Kirsten Hudson who is heading back to Wellington to be with her family and Rose Booth who is having her second baby. We thank both of these staff members for the time and effort they have given to Pasadena. It is appreciated by all of our community.

Replacing Kirsten next year we will have Amanda Kemp . Amanda has been teaching at Arahoe School for the past 6 years. We will also have 2 other teachers starting, Amelia Mulligan who will be taking over our new classroom due to roll growth and Kelly Allington who will be taking up a newly created position as our Food Technology and Nutrition teacher.

A Message from our BOT Chairperson

Tēnā koutou katoa,

Here’s to the end of a year that’s been challenging in many ways. Every student and whānau has had to adapt to learning and lifestyle changes in 2020, so it was inspiring to see our teachers present information on how Pasadena students have been able to navigate all of that and still learn and grow, and meet goals. It’s testament to them, their families, and the effort and skill of our staff and Principal which has been outstanding. As a parent I’m very grateful, and as a board member, and now Chair of the board, I’m very proud. I’ve been on the board since our son joined the Rumaki class when it began, after being on the Westmere School board, our daughter is moving in to Year Eight next year, and I’ll have to wait a few more years for our youngest to come through. I wanted to be in touch to say thank you to you all for pulling together, whilst needing to socially distance this year. Our board has passionate and skilled members, and I step in after Mandy Tubman has led the way, with Jill Pitches and Shelly Pathak all offering great leadership. We are here to help.

Thank you again to you all, have a restful break, and we will look forward to our 2021 cohort at Pasadena thriving.

Ngā mihi nui

Pasadena Intermediate Board Chair

Jewellery Enrichment has wrapped up for the year with lots of stunning pieces being designed and made over Terms 3 and 4. We were fortunate enough to have Pasa parent and local ceramic artist Sam Dunne guide us through her process for making exquisite ceramic earrings and pendants. We also used the lost wax casting method to create bespoke rings which were cast in bronze and sterling silver. We are looking forward to running the programme for more students to enjoy in 2021!

Talent Quest

On Thursday 3rd December, Pasadena Intermediate held the annual Talent Quest. The auditions were held two weeks prior which led to the final 11 selected acts. From singing, dancing and acrobatics, this Talent Quest had it all!  The performances were amazing and the judges had a difficult choice to make but in the end, they chose the  following winning acts:

Thank you to Isabel and Finn (both from Rm6) for sharing their experiences whilst at Pasadena, they were very entertaining and inspiring.

The Year 7’s joined us for our School Social, where DJ Brown and Mr B cranked some great tunes.  Well done to the Student Council for organising a great event.
